DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING 44

Profile

The department of Electronics and communication Engineering was established in the year 1988. The department has qualified faculty members conducting one undergraduate and three postgraduate programmes. In ECE department around 350 students are pursuing under graduate programme leading to the degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department also offers Post Graduate programme M.E (Applied Electronics) meant for graduates in ECE/EEE/ICE/E & I. The Post Graduate Course M.E (Communication Systems) is also conducted with B.E in ECE/Telecommunications as the eligibility criteria. Both the above PG programmes are open for AMIE candidates with specialization in ECE and Grad IETE students. The PG programme proposed for this academic year is M.Tech (VLSI design) This course covers VLSI design concepts with exposure to VLSI software and hardware trainer kits will give them excellent exposure and confidence toface the industry needs. All the students having B.E degree in ECE/CSE/ICE/EEE/E&I/ B.Tech (IT) would be eligible to persue the programme. The department consists of well equipped laboratories offering good infrastructure to conduct experiments in devices and circuits, Microprocessor, interfacing, Communication, digital electronics etc., The laboratory infrastructure is on par with premier institutes of the country with total investment of around 50 Lakhs. The department also has a center of excellence housing facilities in the area of optical communication, VLSI Design, Digital signal processing and image processing. The students come out with innovative projects during the final year of the curriculum.

The students have excellent academic record, bagging university ranks in consecutive academic years, during 1993 – 1997. The department library is housing reference books covering a wide spectrum of Electronics and communication engineering topics and extensively used by the students. The educational CDs, which are part of the departmental library, cover a host of recent developments in the field.

The department has lot of research potential and has about 40 technical publication during the last three years by various members of the faculty and this motivates the students to persue innovative ideas in their project work.

The National Board of Accreditation has accredited the department for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
